Welcome to the 4th Annual New Year's Challenge, Seattle's premiere human powered water craft race, showcasing a wide variety of rowing and paddling enthusiasts of all skill levels willing to brave the cold and compete in this traditional event of the new year. Last year's competitors participated in racing shells, outrigger canoes, stand up and prone boards, surf skis, kayaks, and dragon boats, all battling for the title of fastest contender in their division. The Challenge Championship Belts and Trophy will also be up for grabs, going to the fastest overall man, woman, and team. So whether you chose to row, paddle, or just use your bare hands, come out to the 2013 New Year's Challenge and challenge yourself alongside Seattle's family of water men and women.

Pre-registration for this event is recommended.  For a $40.00 registration fee, each participant receives a race jersey, lunch, drawing ticket, and free shuttle service after the race.  We have a limited supply of official race jerseys, but all participants who pre-register before December 20th will be guaranteed a race jersey.  Lunch will be provided to all participants by the Hungry Paddler at the end of the race at Sail Sand Point.  A shuttle service will be provided to assist participants in retrieving their vehicles from the race start area.
