RACE #3 in Race For Your Life Points Race Series

It's time to get back on the water….
It's that time of the year and the Challenge Championship Belts are once again up for grabs! Come and join us on January 7th, 2012 for the Third Annual New Year's Challenge. Last year we had over 120 competitors come out and compete against outrigger canoes, surf skis, kayaks, standup paddle boards, dragon boats, rowing shells, and many other human powered crafts.
The New Year's Challenge is part of the Race For Your Life Points Race Series. We were up in Bellingham, WA for Race #1 at the Paddle Grand Prix flying around the oval track in the Bay. Race #2 was the Deception Pass Dash held in December where competitors paddled to beat the changing currents as they raced through the often formidable Deception Pass. As Race #3, the New Year's Challenge will take the paddlers from Gasworks Park, through Portage Bay and the Montlake Cut, into Lake Washington, and north to Sandpoint.
Pre-registration for this event is recommended.  For a $40.00 registration fee, each participant receives a race jersey, lunch, raffle ticket, and free shuttle service after the race.  We have a limited supply of official race jerseys, but all participants who pre-register before December 22th will be guaranteed a race jersey.  Lunch will be provided to all participants by the Hungry Paddler at the end of the race at Sail Sand Point.  A shuttle service will be provided to assist participants in retrieving their vehicles from the race start area.

Online Registration Now Closed

Race day registration is available and opens at 8:30 AM on race day at 2300 N. Northlake Way, Seattle, WA 98103, home of Seattle Outrigger and Wakinikona Canoe Club.

The race will start promptly at 11:00AM.  All paddlers will be required to have life vests with them.

Awards ceremonies will be held shortly thereafter to present our perpetual trophy Championship Belt to the fastest man and fastest woman paddler on the water.  We’ll also be presenting various other awards to top category finishers.
This year we focus our fundraising efforts for Kin On, supporting the elderly and adults in the Seattle Asian Community.

Kin On is committed to providing high quality, individualized care to meet the medical, physical, psychological and spiritual needs of the residents. We hope our residents will see Kin On as a nurturing community which they can call "home". It is our goal that the quality of care we provide is consistent with our motto "The Residents are the Center of Our Attention."
We hope that you’ll be able to join us on January 7th in the 2012 New Year’s Challenge!
